My friend Matt Mayhem from The Recently Deceased came to Belgium from the US as part of a tour with The Ultra Kings. I headed to Brussels to see him play. Brussels north is not the prettiest area of the city - I walked alone through the hookers in windows streets before jumping on a taxi - but the bar was okay and the atmosphere was good.

In Bruges

Bruges is a magical city and so beautiful it hurts. My friend Isabel was visiting from Spain so I had to take her to show her one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO / Brujas es una ciudad mágica y es tan linda que duele. Mi amiga Isabel me vino a visitar de España así que tenía que llevarla a ver una de las ciudades más bonitas de Bélgica. El centro histórico de la ciudad es un prominente Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.

The city has tiny roads and plenty of bridges and it is sometimes referred to as "The Venice of the North".Bruges has most of its medieval architecture intact and that makes it even more special. Carnival in Koln

I know it´s not Rio and it´s cold but Carnival in Cologne was awesome. This is the biggest carnival party in Europe and it attracts visitors from different countries. It was cool to see germans going crazy, having fun and dancing. The city itself -or what I had the chance to see- looks pretty good and the parade went through different parts of it. I was lucky enough to find a couple of Spanish girls (Monica and Sonia), a Spanish guy (Jose) and Martin, the tour guide, to spend the day with. I couldnt ask for better company, we had a blast. / Yo sé que no es Rio y es frio pero el Carnaval de Colonia fue increible. Este es el carnaval mas grande de Europa y atrae turistas de diferentes paises. Fue agradable ver a los alemanes vueltos locos, divirtiendose y bailando. La ciudad en si - o lo que tuve chance de ver- se ve bastante bien y la comparsa recorre varias partes de la misma. Fui lo suficientemente afortunada de encontrar a dos chicas españolas (Monica y Sonia), un chico español (Jose) y Martin, el guia del tour,para pasar el dia. No pude pedir mejor compañia porque la pasamos buenisimo.

They have all sorts of traditions like asking for kisses, satirical floats with the faces of the most important politicians and a special bread in the shape of a clown, among others. Martin tried to teach us some words. For example when someone says “Kölle" we had to say "Alaaf” and to ask for candies we had to say something similar to caramelo in spanish./ en el carnaval tienen todo tipo de tradiciones, como pedir besos, comparsas satiricas de los politicos mas importantes y un pan especial en forma de payaso, entre otras. Martin trato de enseñarnos algunas palabras. Por ejemplo, cuando alguien dice "Kolle" nosotros teniamos que decir "Alaaf" y para pedir caramelos teniamos que decir algo muy similar a la palabra caramelo en español.

The whole city becomes a big party and germans sing and dance along songs sung in dialects but the nicest thing to see was that people make an effort to come up with creative costumes. / Toda la ciudad se convierte en un gran fiesta y los alemanes cantan y bailan canciones cantadas en dialectos pero lo mas agradable de ver es que la gente de verdad hace un esfuerzo para inventar disfraces creativos.

and in the end I saw the man in black...Henry Rollins himself! I was sitting on the 5th row in an big auditorium and to my surprise; full house! the audience was predominantly white, male and 30 - 40 years old and there was I: short, brown and with my victory rolls eagerly awating for what he had to say / y al final vi al hombre de negro...Henry Rollins! Me senté en la 5ta fila en un auditorio grandisimo y para mi sorpresa: casa llena! la audiencia fue predominantemente masculina, blanca y de 30 a 40 años y ahí estaba yo: pequeñita, marroncita y con mis victory rolls esperando ansiosa por lo que el tenia que decir.

The show did not dissapoint. The minute he went on the stage everyone smiled. He only had words to entertain us, he was against a plain background, under the spotlight, fully dressed in black and shooting words as fast as he could. His striking energy lasted for over 3 hours but we, the audience, did not feel that the show lasted that long - I talked to some other people about it and they all agreed-. One can tell Punk still flows through his veins and a series of anecdotes from the Black Flag era and suggesting the Ramones + Pizza can solve any problems people may have were the evidence. He talked extensively about politics, the US government and his trips. As I said before, the world needs more people like him and he should keep on talking.../ El show no decepcionó. En cuanto salió al escenario todo el mundo sonrió. Sólo tenía palabras para entretenernos porque se paró en un escenario de un solo color, bajo la luz, vestido todo de negro y disparando palabras lo más rápido que pudo (sólo apto para gente con buen nivel de inglés). Su energía se mantuvo por más de 3 horas y nosotros, la audiencia no sentimos que el show duró tanto - hablé después con otra gente y estuvieron de acuerdo-. Uno se da cuenta que el Punk todavía corre por sus venas y una serie de anécdotas sobre la era Black Flag y la sugerencia de usar pizza y los Ramones para resolver cualquier problema fueron la evidencia. Habló extensivamente sobre política, el gobierno de USA y sus viajes. Como dije antes, el mundo necesita más gente como él y debería seguir hablando....

Pere-Lachaise cementery--- my friend Victor showed me all the touristic spots, he is a true Parisian and knows how to move around and that was a huge advantage. Altough, when we went to the cementery he was totally lost and so was I, we even had a map with us with its a huge place and it was very difficult to find the graves we were looking for. This is a Paris must and its the world´s most visited cementery and Parisians use it as a park and hang out there./ Cementerio Pere-Lachaise---mi amigo Víctor me enseño todos los lugares turísticos, el es un parisino de verdad y sabe como moverse por la ciudad así que esa fue una gran ventaja. Sin embargo, cuando fuimos al cementerio estaba completamente perdido y yo también y aun cuando teníamos un mapa el lugar es gigante y fue difícil conseguir las tumbas que queríamos ver. Este es un lugar al que se debe ir en París y es el cementerio mas visitado del mundo y los parisinos lo usan como un parque y pasan tiempo ahí como si no fuese un cementerio.

These are pictures from last year..it sounds so far away but they are not. With all the exams I havent had the time to update the blog as often as Id like to but this is a start.I went to The Netherlands for a short trip and I headed to Delft to visit Anna and Geronimo and I ended up staying more time in Delft than in Amsterdam (as planned). Delft is thr dutch equivalent of Leuven, in my opinion.Beautiful, small and full of students. I stayed in Amsterdam with Andrea, a friend from Maracaibo and she even joined me in my delftian adventure. Good conversations, wine, vynil, food, vintage shopping...thats how i would describe this trip. here are some random pics of the trip.

Estas fotos son del año pasado...suena tan lejos pero no es asi- Con todos los examenes no he tenido tiempo de actualizar el blog tanto como quisiera pero esto es un comienzo.Me fui a Holanda por un viaje corto y mi rumbo fue Delft para visitar a Anna y a Geronimo y termine quedándome mas tiempo en Delft que en Amsterdam (como lo habia planeado). Delft es el equivalente holandés de Lovaina, en mi opinión. Bonito, pequeño y estudiantil. Me quede en Amsterdam con Andrea, una amiga de Maracaibo y ella inclusive se unió a mi aventura delftiana. Buenas conversaciones, vino, viniles, comida y compras vintage... así describiría este viaje. Aquí hay algunas fotos del viaje.

WHAT is Henry Rollins?

Henry Rollins is coming to Leuven and I already got my ticket in hand but eveytime I tell my friends about how excited I am to see him the reactions range from: "I know his name but I don´t know why" to "What exactly is Henry Rollins?".

In the past, I’ve found myself trying to explain my friends who a number of artists or bands are but in my opinion knowing who Henry Rollins is goes beyond basic musical knowledge. I spent the good first half of my high school years listening to different kinds of genres, from new metal to black metal to 60s music in some sort of musical solitary road (cause in Venezuela most of the people are into tropical music) . Even though I started listening to rock and punk before my brother, it was him who pushed Black Flag and Henry Rollins on me, along with Minor Threat, Teen Idles, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains among others.

It is difficult to translate in one sentence or two the exntesion of what Henry Rollins is or even what he meant to me while growing up. The following video is about the history of harcore in America, kind of a crash course if you are interested...

Fronting the band Black Flag, Henry took the streets of the Regan-era suburbia and took a bunch of youngsters along for the ride. BF was one the first significant hardcore/punk bands on the West Coast scene in the 80’s. Around 3:00 in the following video he talks about how making music was and how different it is from todays music business.

After BlACK FLAG (1986), he formed the ROLLINS BAND, this band had more of a commercial success and "Liar" is one of the most well-known songs of the band with Rollins´ signature voice and pitch...talking straight at you. The band released 7 albums between 1987-2001, with the height of their popularity peaking in the mid-90’s.

A significant part of Rollins’ life is his "spoken word" performances, but what does that mean? If i had to summarize it I´d say: stand-up comedy + storytelling based in his adventures as a frontman and as a traveler. If you think hes gonna be singing, you are wrong. I ve been a follower for so many years now so I decided I wanted to know a bit more and I emailed him and to my surprise, he replied! Henry Rollins, himself! He was very kind to take some time to answer a few questions:

1- What do you want your audience to take away from your performance?====== Hopefully, they were interested in what I had to say and that I didn’t bore them. That’s as good as it gets. Anything past that, like someone being inspired or something is a nice extra.

2- You've captured some beautiful and shocking images. How do you convince people to let you take pictures of them? Did you have any training?=======I just ask. Some say yes and many say no. If they say no, I don’t. I have no training.

3- Do people recognize you when you travel to non-western countries?===== Not much. In Indonesia sometimes because of films but past that, not much.

4-Have you considered going back on stage with a band ever again?======= No.

5- Who is your current literary influence(s)?====== I don’t really read literature any more. I read a lot of history and political stuff. Eric Foner’s new book on Lincoln is extremely good.

6-Have your feelings about getting married and women changed as you are getting older?===== No. The last thing I would ever to is get married. Women are fine with me but I am the solitary type.

7- I saw a show called THE MAN SHOW. It is a very old show but the conlcusion is that you come across as a very masculine man but your opinion about yourself leans towards the feminine side. Do you think this has changed with time?====== I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about there.

I know this a very long post but there´s so much writing needed if anyone wants to talk about what he has done -there are some things that im omitting-.

Despite his movie and television appearances and his moderate fame, punk still flows through his veins. He remains faithful to his ethics, he doesn’t get high, doesn’t get drunk and keeps a rigorous schedule. Hardworking, clear as water and as PI as anyone can be, the world needs more people like him and he should keep on talking...

As part of my art history class, the architecture professor took us to The Arenberg Castle. It is located in the outskirts of Leuven, in Heverlee. The site had been the castle of the lords of Heverlee since the 12th century, but this family became impoverished and had to sell it in 1445 to the Croÿ family from Picardy. Willem van Croÿ completed some restoration works on the castle in 1515, and founded a monastery on the castle grounds for the Benedictine Ceslestines. Como parte de mi clase de historia del arte, mi profesora de arquitectura nos llevo al Castillo de Arenberg que queda en las afueras de Lovaina, en Heverlee. Este ha sido el castillo de los lords de Heverlee desde el siglo XII pero la familia empobreció y tuvo que venderlo en 1445 a los Croy de Picardy. Willem van Croy completo unos trabajos de reconstrucción en el castillo y fundo un monasterio en los terrenos del castillo para las Benedictas Celestinas.

This post is a patchwork of all the pictures taken by different people with different cameras..so excuse me for the inconsistency. On the 24th I went to Gent to have dinner with Yhonny and Dirk and their family...we had an awesome time...had fancy food and fooled around and it felt like spending christmas with the family. thanks to them for being such good hosts and Jean and Evert for inviting me. Este post una mezcla de fotos de diferentes cámaras y tomadas por diferentes personas, así que disculpen la inconsistencia. El 24 me fui a Gante a cenar en casa de Dirk y Yohnny y su familia...nos divertimos mucho...todo muy lindo y muy bien decorado y mi comida estuvo rica -vegetariana- y sentí que pase la navidad con una familia. Gracias a ellos por ser tan buenos organizadores y a Evert y Jean por invitarme. Me puse el típico vestido negro, mis zapaticos viejos con medias de malla y una mini boina o fascinator de Zara que fue el regalo de Navidad de Evert y Jean. Me encanta!

This was the first New Years Eve night I spend without my mum. I cried my eyes out when i couldnt reach her on the phone at 12...we finally talked like 10 mins later...and I cried again.
We watched the countdown on a spanish network and ate 12 grapes according to the Spanish/Venezuelan tradition. The grapes were huge and I almost choked with the last ones and i reckon I managed to ask for 6 wishes -at the most-.

At around 1am the bar was packed and we partied till the morning with champagne...much better than what I expected. So, 2012 HERE WE FUCKING GO!

Este fue el primer 31 que paso sin mi madre. Se me salieron los ojos de tanto llorar cuando no la pude contactar en el telefono a las 12...finalmente hablamos como 10mins despues y volvi a llorar.

Vimos las campanadas en la 1ra (un canal español) y nos comimos las 12 uvas para seguir la tradicion española/venezolana. Las uvas era gigantes y casi me ahogo con las ultimas y yo calculo que solo pude pedir como 6 deseos - como maximo-

Tine and her family invited me to a christmas dinner in Overpelt, it was a very belgian experience with the super sweet grandma trying to have a conversation with me in dutch and lots of food with potatoes (what can be more belgian that potatoes?)and nice company.Tines aunt cooked a vegetarian meal for me which BTW was delicious - curry sauce FTW-. I like Tines family. They´ve all been very welcoming and they like drinking and getting together...

Tina y su familia me invitaron a Overpelt para una cena de Navidad, fue una experiencia muy belga con la abuelita hermosa tratando de hablar conmigo en holandes y mucha comida con papas (que puede ser mas belga que la papa?) y buena compañia.La tia de Tina cocino un plato vegetariano para mi, que por cierto estaba delicioso, con curry!. .i know this post is not very chronological...but the day after the xmas dinner in overpelt; tine, Astrid and I went bowling.it was sort of a bungalow resort with a tropical theme and heating everywhere...very weird. I broke a nail and lost (im the second player on the screen) but we had fun. it reminded me why i dont play sports...because i SUCK at them. hehe/ se que este post no es muy cronologico...pero el dia despues de la cena de Navidad de Overpelt, Tina, AStrid y yo nos fuimos a jugar bowling. luxembourg was more than what I had expected...tiny, fairy tale -like, clean and people were nice to me. the duchy has a complicated history so its very interesting if you ask the locals how it ended up being a real country and how they developed their economy without important natural resources. Although it was extremely cold and its super expensive, i had a good time. i stayed with yliana and carlos so we had time to catch up while drinking and trying the local food. i left with the feeling that luxembourg is not very real, people make shit loads of money and they live in this very organized village/country but it wouldnt hurt to spend some time there and work, just like my friends are doing.

The Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, 50.5 acres in extent, is situated in a beautiful wooded area. The cemetery was established on December 29, 1944 by the 609th Quartermaster Company of the U.S. Third Army while Allied Forces were stemming the enemy's desperate Ardennes Offensive, one of the critical battles of World War II. The city of Luxembourg served as headquarters for General George S. Patton's U.S. Third Army. General Patton and 5076 other soldiers are buried here.

Tired of going to the oude markt in Leuven and sick of listening to same music all the time, I headed to Antwerp on my own to go to a 30s-40s-50s music party and dance a little bit. It was held at the Antwerpen Central Station in a tent they set up for the holidays season. I got off the train and followed the delightful music and entered into what looked like a circus tent from the outside. Inside it looked completely different and it was a really nice location with a nice crowd full of swing dancing enthusiasts and against all odds, I had fun by dancing all night, talking to strangers and practicing my dutch (im not so good at it but we managed to communicate). / Cansada de ir al oude markt en Lovaina y de escuchar la misma musca todo el tiempo, me dirigí a Amberes solita para ir a una fiesta de música de los años 30-40-50 y bailar un poco. La fiesta fue en la Estación Central de Amberes en una carpa que pusieron por las fiestas. Me baje del tren y seguí la musica y entre en lo que desde afuera lucia como una carpa de circo. Adentro lucia completamente diferente, una locación super agradable llena de entusiastas del swing y en contra de todas las probabilidades la pase super bien bailando toda la noche, hablando con extraños y practicando el poquito de holandés que se...no es mucho pero me logre comunicar.

It was nice to see belgians dancing and making an effort to pull off the retro look, most of them didnt but its still refreshing to see people trying.../ Fue muy agradable ver a los belgas bailando y haciendo un esfuerzo por verse retro...no muchos lo lograron pero es de todas maneras refrescante ver a la gente intentando...

my friend Giacomo lives in a farm in Leuven...yes in Leuven, but just in the outskirts of the city. he invited me and Giardi to check it out and spend the afternoon with him. the farm has a good vibe, its all artsy and everyone living there must help with some kind of work and Giacomo helps around as well. It was a sunny afternoon and there was some sort of tour going on and they planned activites for the kids, there was a bbq and they have their own bar which means you can just go there and chill..i cant not wait to go there again.Mi amigo Giacomo vive en una granja en Lovaina...si es dificil de creer pero es justo a las afueras de la ciudad. nos invito a mi y a Giardi a darle un vistazo y a pasar la tarde con el. La granja tiene una buena atmosfera y hay arte por todos lados y todos los que viven ahi deben ayudar dde alguna manera asi que Giacomo tambien ayuda. Fue una tarde soleada y habia una especie de tour y planearon actividades para los ninos, habia una parrillada y tienen su propio bar, lo que siginifica que puedes ir y pasarla la tarde tranquilamente alla...estoy loca por volver!organic sodame and Giardithe kids play was performed in dutch...so no clue what it was about..animals maybe?Giacomo and Giardi they grow their own vegetables!/ ellos cultivan sus propios vegetales!the boys fooling around i loved the signs in different languages

Some people call it knitted street art, Kniffitti, Graknitti or Graffiknit. Whatever, I think its just cute. I spotted this bit of gratuitous vandalism in Leuven recently / Algunos lo llaman arte tejido de calle, kniffitti (por tejido y graffitti), Graknitti o Graffiknit, Lo que sea, pero es lindo. Vi esta muestra de vandalismo hermoso aca en Leuven recientemente.

Do the youth of Belgium have nothing better to do with their time! What happened to kicking bins? Setting fire to letterboxes? Putting out cigarettes in precious pot plants? Common theft? well, thats almost unexistant here although students always steal street signs and puke on the streets after a very good party. anyways, i support kniffitti, I think it makes the world a beautiful place.../ Sera que la juventud de Belgica no tiene nada mejor que hacer con su tiempo? que paso con patear la basura? Prender fuego al correo? Apagar cigarrillos en los materos? My kot-mate Simon loves cooking and having people over for drinks so he invited Erika and Sofia - both Mexican- to cook something enchiladas for the rest of us. I think the pics are very self explanatory; we got together, helped the girls cook and listened to music. I put my camera away and now I regret it cause more people joined us and then we headed to a Balkan music party. It was very weird at the beginning and it was held in a pool place but we ended up having fun and everyone started dancing and having fun. BTW, Simon showed us how to fist pump starting from the floor! / Mi compañero de kot, Simon, ama cocinar e invitar gente para tomar algo en la casa, así que invito a Erika y a Sofia -ambas mexicanas- para que cocinaran enchiladas para el resto de nosotros. Creo que las fotos explican todo, nos reunimos, ayudamos a las chicas a cocinar y escuchamos música. Yo abandone la cámara y ahora lo lamento porque se nos unió mas gente y luego nos fuimos a una fiesta de música balcánica. Al principio todo fue medio raro, la gente estaba rara y era en un lugar de pool pero terminando pasándola super bien y todos bailamos. School is a lot harder than what I expected so ive been studying a lot and I also started my dutch lessons -16 hours per week pfff -, so between schools and running daily errands, I havent had the time to update my blog but I promise that starting from today Ill be more disciplined about it./ La uni es mucho mas difícil de lo que pensaba asi que he estado estudiando mucho y también empece mis lecciones de holandés - 16 horas a la semana pfff, imagínense - así que entre las escuelas y las diligencias que tengo que hacer todos los días, no he tenido tiempo para actualizar el blog pero prometo que a partir de este momento seré mas disciplinada.

My friend Tine and her cousins took me to Belgian equivalent of 6 Flags: Bobbejaanland, A rollercoaster park theme park. Tines cousins were fun to hang out with especially Brecht who kept making jokes all the time...The park has a section just for kids but all the other parts have rollercoasters that can make you feel really sick. Even though some seemed very scary, I overcame my fears and rode all the big rides, including some for kids, just for fun... / Mi amiga Tine y sus primos me llevaron al equivalente belga de 6 Flags: Bobbejaanland, Un parque mecánico temático. Los primos de Tine fueron muy cheveres y muy buena compania, especialmente Brecht que estuvo metiéndose con todo el mundo todo el tiempo...El parque tiene una sección solo para ninos pero todas las áreas tienen montanas rusas que te pueden hacer sentir bastante mal. Aun cuando algunas me daba miedo, me monte en todas las mas grandes, incluyendo algunas de ninos también....

A kot is basically a student residence without curfew and with all the advantages of living on your own in a regular apartment, here in Leuven almost every student lives in a place like mine. I love my kot cause it has high ceilingsm a brand new kitchen, its clean and it full of light and its on Brusselsestraatm a nice area and very well located, Here are some pics for you to see how it is like, I have more things now courtesy of Tine´s family - my belgian friend - / Un kot es basicamente una residencia estudiantil pero sin horarios y con todas las libertades de vivir en un apartamento, aca en Leuven casi todos los estudiantes viven en uno de esos. El mio me encanta porque esta en Brusselsestraat, es buena zona y esta bien ubicado. aca les dejo fotos para que vean como es. pero ahora tengo mas cosas que la familia de Tine -mi amiga belga- me han regalado.

my last week in Venezuela was pretty busy, had to pack, finish teaching a course and visiting friends and saying good-bye / mi ultima semana en Venezuela estuvo bastante ocupada, tuve que empacar, terminar un curso que estaba enseniando, visitar amigos y decir adios.

Unlike what i had thought, it wasnt that sad. i was very excited of coming to Europe and even though there were some tears here and there, my friends and family made it very easy and were very happy for me. Al contrario de lo que habia empezado, no fue tan triste. Estaba luy emocionada po venir a Europa y aun cuando hubo algunas lagrimas aqui y alla; mis migos y mi familia me la pusieron muy facil porque estabn muy felices por mi.

My pupils organized a farewell party on our last day of class and fed me with lots of sweets and crisps and my favorite: ice cream! / mis alumnos organizaron una fiesa de despedida en nuestro ultimo dia de clases y me alimentaron con muchos dulces y pepitos y mi favorito/ helado!

On my last day in Maracaibo some of my girlfriends took me to a lovely restaurant and I had a veggie burger - the only place on Maracaibo where you can get one-. The resturant is called CUMA and I highly recommend it. beautiful decor; good service; yummy food./ En mi ultimo dia en Maracaibo algunas de mis amigas me llevaron a un restuarante adorable y me comi una hamburguesa vegetariana (no saben lo dificil que es conseguir comida vegetariana en la ciudad) - el unico lugar en Maracaibo donde se puede conseguir una de esas-. El restaurant se llama CUMA y lo recomiendo. la decoracion es linda, el servicio es bueno y la comida es buena.

Since I´m moving to Belgium in less than two weeks, I started considering seasonal clothes, not a familiar concept in my very warm, season-less tropical country. Looking for the latest trends for the fall, I got to the conclusion that some of them can be easily found when thrifting. Here are some / Como me voy a mudar a Belgica en menos de dos semanas, empece a considerar a la ropa de acuerdo a las estaciones, un concepto poco familiar en mi muy caliente país que es tropical y sin estaciones. buscando las ultimas tendencias para el otonio, llegue a la conclusión de que algunas prendas se pueden conseguir en tiendas de segunda mano. Aquí les dejo algunas:

Ankle length trousers - Look for a pair in a smooth, light weight wool blend that's relaxed through the thigh but tapered at the ankle. Make them modern by hemming them two inches above the ankle like the one above / Pantalones al tobillo - Busca un par en una mezcla suave y ligera de lana que quede relajado hasta los muslos pero mas angosto hacia los tobillos.

Bright Blazers — Avoid basic black and opt to amp it up with a slightly oversized, double breasted blazer. For fit, find one with a length that hits your mid-thigh. Keep it buttoned to look perfectly polished or unbutton it to show your softer side / Blazer en colores brillantes - Evita el negro basico y opta por amplificarlo con una talla mas grande y cruzado. Frente de Ira is a Venezuelan old school hardcore band that was started playing back in 2007. There have been quite a few changes when it comes to the name and band members but nowadays they are more cohesive and released an album. Not only I like their music for the sake of it, but they happen to be my friends too. With upcoming gigs in Colombia and Argentina, they decided to play in several places as some sort of farewell party and they went to my town and played in my favorite place: Living Bar.

Frente de Ira es una banda venezolana de Harcore vieja escuela que empezó a tocar en el 2007. Han habido unos cuantos cambios en lo que se refiere al nombre y a los miembros de la banda pero hoy en dia están mas cohesionados y lanzaron un album. Ive been busy so my posts have been a bit delayed. I was in the middle of the visa application process and working in two places at the same time so i havent had enough time to write and post but after all, there was a pot of gold at the of the rainbow because all my efforts were rewarded. I was chosen to study at the Katholiek Universiteit Leuven for a Advanced postgraduate degree! and after spending all my savings and dealing with all the paperwork, I GOT THE VISA! so Im going to live in sweet-chocolate filled BELGIUM!!! Cant wait.

He estado ocupada últimamente y es por eso que mis posts han estado un poco lentos. Estaba en el medio de la aplicación de la visa y encima trabajando en dos lugares al mismo tiempo así que no he tenido tiempo para escribir y postear pero después de todo, hubo oro al final del arcoiris; todos mis esfuerzos fueron reconocidos. Fui escogida para estudiar en la Katholiek Universiteit Leuven para estudios avanzados de postgrado -aca seria un doctorado- y después de haber gastado mis ahorros y luchar con los papeles, ME DIERON LA VISA! así que iré a vivir por un tiempo en la dulce y llena de chocolate BELGICA!!! no puedo esperar...

I have been seeing my friend quite a lot because Im aware that i might not see them in a looong time and going to their brithday parties is one part of my duties hehe. My friend Tatiana turned mmm i dont want to know...and we celebrated. I didnt have enough money so i baked a cake instead and gave it to her as gift! It was an oportunity to get together and catch up.

MAD MEN is just amazing but I have to admit that I was drawn to it because of the impecable looks. Betty Draper is like a reincarnation of Grace Kelly but skinnier. I started thinking about buying vintage underwear and bullet bras because of her but buying underwear in a thrift shop is not ideal, at least not for me. I bought this piece in Dublin and I hadn't posted a photo because it's hard post photos of oneself when wearing virtually nothing.

One of the things I miss about England is potato wedges, they were everywhere and they were amazing. Today I tried to recreate them and even though we don't have same paprika people use in the u.k - the one with the smokey flavor- I was very pleased with the result.

Una de las cosas que extranio de Inglaterra son las potato wedges, se encuentran en todos lados y son maravillosas. Hoy trate de recrearlas aun cuando no tenemos la misma paprika que se encuentra en el Reino Unido - la que sabe a ahumado - pero quede muy satisfecha con el resultado.

I made bread pudding too, but a cheesy version. Instead of the traditional sweet one, I experimented with cream cheese, garlic, fennel, onions and parmesan cheese and I have to admit I was very proud of myself. my mom and my neighbours loved it...

Instructions for the potato wedges:
cut the potatoes half and make them flat / Cortar las papas a la mitad para volverlas planas.

put the wedges in a bowl, add olive oil, salt, pepper and paprika / Poner los wedges en un bol, agregar aceite de oliva, sal, pimienta y paprika

stir the wedges so the flavor gets everywhere / remover los wedges para que el sabor llegue a todos lados

put them in the oven over a baking tray for 15 mins. and turn the other side and leave theme in the oven for 15 more mins. / ponerlos en el horno en una bandeja de hornear por 15 mins. y voltear y dejar por 15 mins mas

As you may know by now, Im back in my hometown after studying in London and since Im living in a small town my options are very limited. Living Bar is the only bar I go to in this city because its the only place where you can listen to different genres rather than tropical music. They have open bar nights, smoking area and good music and the owners are my friends!

I was asked to work as costume designer and Art Direction assistant for a series of tv ads for Centro 99 - a supermarket chain in Maracaibo-. Valeria -one of my best friends- was the Art Director and I was basically helping her out along with Lucas, her brother.

Trabaje como Vestuarista y Asistente de Direccion de Arte para una una serie de comerciales para Centro 99 - una cadena de supermercados en Maracaibo- . Valeria - una de mis mejores amigas - fue la directora de arte y yo basicamente estuve ayudandola junto con su hermano Lucas.

Plus Publicidad and Bolivar Producciones joined forces and created theses commercial full of live and family values. My personal favorite? granpa's bday (the first).

I didnt have mush freedom cause I was asked to portrait middle class - maracuchos, it had to be very simple. / Estas son algunas de las opciones de vestuario que probamos a los actores. This is an old post but I had to write about this place. As I was walking around Temple Bar in Dublin I was drawn to this beautiful pink shop, the display was the cutest so I went inside just to find out that it was a millinery supply store and school. I bought some pieces while we talked tothe lovely clerk. They have hat-making courses, sell supplies and some ready-to-wear pieces. loved the place!

Mientras caminaba por Temple Bar en Dublin una hermosa tienda rosada me atrajo, la vitrina era la mas linda de todas asi que fui adentro solo para descubir que era una tienda de suministros para hacer sombreros y escuela a la vez. Compre algunas piezas mientras hablabamos con la adorable empleada. Tienen cursos de como hacer sombreros, venden suministros y algunas piezas ya listas. Ame el lugar!

I made a rainbow cake for my friend Juan de los Mares, it was his birthday and it was an opportunity to give it to him as a gift and try the recipe at the same time. It's a basic white cake recipe but I added a few drops of chewing gum artificial flavor to make it more fun... / Hice una torta de arcoiris para mi amigo Juan de los Mares, fue su cumpleanos y fue la oportunidad para darsela como regalo y a la vez probar la receta. Es una receta de torta blanca basica pero le anadi unas gotas de sabor artificial de chicle para hacerla mas divertida.

It's very simple, all you need is to divide the batter into six different containers, add the colors (gel) and slowly pour them...here's a video to show you how to do it. / Es muy sencillo, todo lo que se tiene que hacer es dividir la mezcla en seis contenedores diferentes y agregar los colores (en gel) y anadirlos lentamente a un molde. I did the tossing and keeping thing before I started and I color-sorted clothes and shoes. One good idea is to hide shoes under the bed as I did (this is a massive custom-made drawer) / Organice la ropa en dos grupos: con la que me iba a quedar y la que iba a regalar o botar. Ese es el principio, ah y organice la ropa por colores. Una buena idea es esconder los zapatos debajo de la cama como hice yo (esta es una gaveta grande hecha a la medida).

I´ve been to Madrid quite a few times already but it´s the kind of place you always want to go back to. I love the way spanish enjoy life and how important social life is for them. Madrid is beautiful enough and prices are o.k. and in the clubbing areas you can get free drinks just for being a girl and I have to admit the mojitos were pretty decent. On the other hand, the smoking ban changed the atmosphere a little bit at least to me. Some people say it´s actually a good way to strike up a friendship because you go outside and meet some other fellow smokers. This time around I had the chance to visit my friend Maria Jose in Alcala de Henares, who recently moved there with her husband to-be and the other Maria, a true spanish from the south that is just a delight to hear- love her accent.

He ido a Madrid unas cuantas veces ya pero esta ciudad es la clase de lugar al que siempre quieres volver. Amo la forma en que los espanoles disfrutan la vida y cuan importante es la vida social para ellos. Madrid es bonita suficiente y los precios estan bien ah y en las zonas de bares y clubes te dan traguitos gratis solo por ser mujer y debo admitir que los mojitos estaban bastante decentes. Por otro lado, la prohibicion de fumar cambio un poco la atmosfera, al menos para mi. Algunos dicen que es hasta bueno porque vas afuera y conoces otros fumadores y te pones a hablar. Esta vez tuve la oportunidad de visitar a mi amiga Maria Jose en Alcala de Henares, quien se mudo para alla recientemente con su prometido y a la otra Maria, una espanola del sur que es una delicia para escuchar - amo su acento.

My good friend Elvira is leaving the country and going back to Spain, as most of us we are all looking for a way to leave the country and find better oportunitites somehwere else. I don't want to get into politics so i'll focus on the party instead. It was a surprise party and boy, did we surprise her! she had no clue of what was going on and we use Roger as our partner in crime because it was his bithday so it was the prefect excuse. Rowger was surprised too! so we had two reasons to celebrate. The party had a spanish theme (music, costumes)but I did not know about it :S
anyways, I just wish my beloved Elvira the best!

Mi buena amiga Elvira se va del país de vuelta a Espania, ella como la mayoría de nosotros esta buscando una manera de dejar el país y encontrar mejores oportunidades en otro lado. No me quiere poner política asi que me enfocare en la fiesta mejor. Fue una fiesta sorpresa y ella no tenia ni idea, usamos a Roger como nuestro señuelo y como el cumplía anios era la excusa perfecta/ Roger también se sorprendió y tuvimos dos razones para celebrar. La fiesta era espaniola (musica y disfraces) pero yo no sabia :S

Finnegan is my travel buddy, it was a gift from my brother when he went to Ireland for the first time. I love him to death and he has travelled with me since. After so many years I had the chance to take Finne home. Here are some photos of his return-to-hometown-trip and some cool things I found on the way.

Finnegan es mi companero de viaje, fue un regalo de mi hermano de la primera vez que fue a Irlanda. Lo amo a morir y el ha viajado conmigo desde entonces a todos lados. Despues de todos estos anios tuve la oportunidad de llevarlo a casa. Aqui pongo algunas fotos del viaje de regreso a casa de Finne y de algunas cosillas que encontre en el camino.

Irish are cool, smiley and nice, just like I expected but Dublin still remains too white for my taste -so not London- .Inmigration is still new (sort of) but there has been a new wave of latino inmigrants in the last 3 years and we even had arepas in a Venezuelan mini-restaurant. Temple Bar was my favorite part of town, it is colorful and people go there to drink and chill. Dublin is super green with shamrocks growing as grass! I would love to come back but as the result of the economic turmoil it is insanely expensive...

Los irlandeses son cool, sonrien y son cheveres tal y como lo esperaba pero Dublin sigue siendo muy blanco - no como Londres donde hay de todo - la inmigracion es algo relativamente nuevo pero ha habido una ola de inmigrantes latinos llegando al pais en lois ultimos tres anios, tanto asi que hasta comimos arepas en un mini-restaurante venezolano. Temple Bar fue la parte de la ciudad que me gusto mas , es colorido y es donde la gente va a tomarse un cafe, a tomar o simplemente a pasar el rato. Dublin es super verde con treboles que crecen como grama en todos lados! me encantaria volver pero como resultado de la crisis economica, es increiblemente caro...

NAUTA - VIDEO CLIP: "Cierto"

A few days ago I was hired as costume designer for a music video of a new band called NAUTA (actually they were part of a famous band here in Venezuela called Voz Veis). Me along with Valeria - one of my best friends- were working together and I had the chance to work with an amazing crew of fun and talented people. The Nautas were very nice and altough it was very exhausting because we worked for 22 hours, I'm very pleased with the result. Hace unos dias me contrataron como vestuarista para el video musical de una banda nueva llamada NAUTA (bueno, ellos son los ex- Voz Veis que son bastante famosos por aca). Yo junto con Valeria - una de mis mejores amigas- trabajamos juntas y tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con un equipo de gente divertida y talentosa. Los Nautas fueron muy agradables con todo el mundo y aunque fue muy agotador porque trabajamos por 22 horas, estoy muy complacida con el resultado. Having read about it somewhere ( I'm almost sure it was a blog), I decided to go to the picturesque Greenwich and take my mom to have "proper british" afternoon tea. We walked around Greenwich and thanks to some signs on the street we found it. the Fan Museum is the world's only museum devoted entirely to every aspect of fans and fan making and its collection of fans exceeds 3,500 dating from the 11th century to the present, which are on display in changing exhibitions throughout the year, together with fans on loan from other collections. /

Habiendo leido acerca del lugar (estoy casi segura que fue en algun blog), decidi ir al pinturesco Greenwich y llevar a mi mama para que tuviera una verdadera tarde de te britanica. Caminamos alrededor de Greenwich y gracias a unos avisos en la calle lo encontramos. El Museo del Abanico es el unico museo en el mundo dedicado exclusivamente a cada aspecto de los abanicos y la fabricacion de los mismos y su coleccion excede los 3500 que datan desde el siglo XII hasta el presente, junto con abanicos en calidad de prestamo de otras colecciones.

It sounds boring but it is actually a treat for the eyes and if you are interested in anything girly, vintage or beautiful, it is worth a visit. It is housed in two Georgian buildings and outside, an Orangery (the tea room) serving afternoon tea on Tuesdays and Sundays looks on to a Japanese-style garden. The Fan Museum is one of the few Greenwich attractions in which you have to pay to enter, but offering everything from an original fan painted by Gauguin to immaculate toilets, plus a great atmosphere with beautiful light, great service and a punk gardener ;) it's well worth the £4 entry (£3 concessions)./

Suena aburrido pero en realidad es un carinito para los ojos y si te interesa cualquier cosa femenina, vintage o simplemente bonita, vale la pena ir. Queda en dos edificios Georgianos y afuera tiene la "naranjeria" (el salon de te) que sirve el te de la tarde los dias martes y domingos y que da la vista a un jardin de estilo japones. Esta es una de las pocas atracciones en Greenwich por la que se tiene que pagar pero tomando en cuenta que ofrecen desde un abanico original pintado por Gaugiun hasta sanitarios inmaculados, ademas de una gran atmosfera con luz natural preciosa, muy buen servicio y un jardinero punk con cresta y todo ;) vale la pena pagar las 4 libras de entrada

By the way, the scones were amazing and they have the best clotted cream I've ever had and most importantly, my mum loved it! / Por cierto, los scones estaban increíbles y probé la mejor clotted cream de mi vida y lo mas importante es que a mi mama le encanto el lugar!

The Fan Museum is open 11am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and midday-5pm Sunday./ El Museo del Abanico esta abierto desde las 11 a-5pm de Martes a Sabado y desde el mediodia-5pm los domingos.

1/2 cups Warm Milk / 1/2 taza de leche tibia
1/4 cups Melted Margarine / 1/4 de taza de margarina derretida
1 whole Egg / 1 huevo completo
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract / 1 cucharadita de extracto de vainilla
1 cup Flour / 1 taza de harina
1/3 cups Sugar / 1/3 de taza de azúcar
1-1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder / 1-1/2 cucharaditas de polvo para hornear
1/2 teaspoons Salt / 1/2 cucharadita de sal
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa / 1/3 taza de cacao
1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee / 1 1/2 cucharaditas de café instantáneo

Dissolve the instant coffee in warm milk until it is completely dissolved. / Disuelve completamente el café instantáneo en leche tibia .

Next, add melted margarine, egg and vanilla and whisk until combined. / Despues, agrega la margarina derretina, el huevo, el extracto de vainilla y baten hasta que se mezclen.

In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa and salt. / En otro bol, combina la harina, el azucar, el polvo para hornear, el cacao y la sal.

Pour wet ingredients into a well in the center of the dry ingredients and stir well to incorporate completely. / Vacia los ingredientes mojados o liquidos en un volcan hecho en el centro de los ingredientes secos y bate bien hasta que se incorporen completamente.

Fill muffin tins 2/3 full and bake at 375° for 17-20 minutes. / Llena los capacillos no hasta arriba sino hasta dos tercios de su capacidad y hornea a 375 grados por 17-20 minutes. (si tu horno tiene menos, déjalos mas tiempo).

For the frosting:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature / 1 taza o dos politos de mantequilla sin sal - no margarina- a temperatura ambiente
2 1/2 cups sugar / 2 1/2 tazas de azúcar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract / 1 1/2 cucharaditas de extracto de vainilla
1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee / 1 1/2 cucharaditas de café instantáneo

Mix the instant coffee powder into the vanilla until dissolved; set aside. / Mezcla el cafe instantaneo con la vainilla hasta que se disuelva y reserva.

Using a stand mixer, whip the butter on medium-high speed for 5 minutes, stopping once to scrape the sides of the bowl. Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the sugar a little at a time, waiting until it is mostly incorporated before adding more. Once all of the sugar has been added, scrape the sides of the bowl and increase the speed to medium-high and whip until fluffy, about a minute or two. Add the coffee and vanilla mixture and continue to mix at medium-high until it is completely incorporated, scraping the sides as necessary. / Usando una batidora, bate la mantequilla yendo de velocidad media a la maxima por 5 minutos, parando para raspar los bordes. Luego reduce la velocidad de la batidora a bajo y anade el azucar poco a poco, esperando a que este casi incorporada para anadir mas, raspa l;os bordes una vez mas y sube la velocidad por un minuto o dos. The prudish Victorians changed the name of the Lane and market to avoid referring to woman's underclothes! Although the street was renamed Middlesex Street in the early 1800s it is still known as Petticoat Lane Market.
Monday to Friday Petticoat Lane Market is on Wentworth Street, but on Sundays it spreads out much further. The area is well-known for its leather goods, plus you'll also find chain store clothes at bargain prices, watches, junk jewelry, london souvenirs (best prices you can find) and toys.

Leather jackets is the specialty at the top end of the market, near Aldgate East, but the rest of the market is full of bargain clothing. Market traders buy in bulk end-of-season lines and sell them on at great reductions. Women's fashion is always popular here. Cds and DVDs are also popular with stalls full of caribbean music that fills the atmosphere and makes the street lively and warmer even when it's cold.

Petticoat Lane fue establecida hace mas de 400 anos por los Hugunotes franceses quienes vendían armadores y encaje allí. Los Victorianos puritanos le cambiaron el nombre para evadir usar el nombre de la ropa interior femenina! A pesar de que la calle fue rebautizada como Middlesex Street a principio de los 1800s, todavía se le conoce como Petticoat Lane Market.

De lunes a viernes el Petticoat Lane Market queda en Wentworth Street pero se esparce mas los domingos.La zona es muy conocida por los artículos de cuero pero ademas encontraras ropa de tiendas de cadena (tipo zara, french connection, h&m) en rebaja, relojes, bisutería, souvenirs de Londres (a los mejores precios) y juguetes.

Las chaquetas de cuero son la especialidad en la parte mas cercana a Aldgate East, pero el resto del mercado esta lleno de ropa en oferta. Los vendedores comprar por bultos la ropa de las cadenas cuando se acaban las temporadas y las venden con buenas rebajas. La ropa de mujer siempre es popular aca, ademas de Cds y DVDs de música caribeña que llenan la atmósfera de alegría y te dan calorcito inclusive cuando hace mucho frió.

My bday this year was nothing special, I had no phone and it was very difficult for my friends to reach...I spent most of the day working and by the time I got home I was all tired. But the day before I went out and I had the chance to wear my new headpiece that I bought in Dublin. People kept asking me - as a joke- if I had attended the Royal Wedding (same day).

The headpiece resembles a 40s turban and the long leather gloves are just a dream. If I were invited to a royal wedding this is what I would wear. It´s flashy, it´s vintage-ish and it´s proper.

Miriam le dio un toque español a esta boda britanica, desde su vestido de tul de lunares, hasta su pieza con flores para el cabello, simplemente ame lo que se puso- La pieza de flores me hace recordar a los turbantes de los años 40 y los los guantes largos de cuero son un sueño. the market has been around for 300 years or so, located in notting hill (a beautiful area). it is a good option for a saturday afternoon. it can be pretty hectic but it is worth going. the market stalls are open from dawn and its a destination for the tourists and vintage enhtusiasts, you will find the most amazing china, magnifying glasses,local food, letter openers, military uniforms from wars past and other artifacts of eras gone by. Sellers are required to subscribe to a written code of ethics so prices are under control.

PORTOBELLO MARKET:
Bueno para comprar antiguedades, porcelana y comida/ Zona:notting hill/$$$/bus y metro/mejor dia: sabados.

El mercado ha estado en la zona de nottinh hill por 300 anos mas o menos. Es una buena opcion para hacer algo un sabado por la tarde. Es bastante movido pero vale la pena ir. Los puestos del mercado abren muy temprano es un destino turistico por excelencia y apara los entusiastas de lo vintage, encontraras porcelana maravillosa para tomar te, lupas, comida local, abridores de cartas, uniformes militares de guerras pasadas y cualquier artefacto antiguo. Los vendedores deben suscribirse a un codigo escrito de etica asi que los precios estan bajo control.

Rocket Salad & Veggie Sausage Rolls

Los sausage rollos son un tipo de pasapalo/comida fácil comúnmente servida en fiesta y disponibles para llevar en cualquier panadería. Son tipicamente británicos y se encuentran en todos lados, yo por mi parte, decidí hacer mi propia versión vegetariana alterando un poco la receta original de Lorraine Pascale.

Ingredientes:
500grs de masa de hojaldre (en los supermercados se consigue en la parte de las comidas congeladas)
harina de trigo para poner sobre el tablon y trabajar la masa
1 huevo batido
8 salchichas sal pimentadas y cortadas en dos(en mi caso, salchichas vegetarianas).
hojas de tomillo (fresco)

Preparacion:
1. Pre-calentar el horno a 200 grados centigrados

2. Poner la masa de hojaldre en una superficie enharinada y estirarla un poco mas con el rodillo. La masa de hojaldre normalmente esta hecha de capas, así que hay que tener cuidado cuando se trabaja porque se rompe fácilmente,para los sausage rolls la masa no tiene que estar muy inflada por eso es bueno usar el rodillo.

3.Cortar el rectángulo de masa a la mitad a lo largo y después hace 8 rectángulos (mas bien tiras) de igual ancho, que sea casi igual que el ancho de las salchichas. Ahora tienes 16 rectángulos.Con una brocha poner un poquito de huevo batido por un lado y poner la salchicha por el otro. Sazonar la salchicha con el tomillo o cualquier otra hierba y salpimentar. Enrollar la salchicha en la masa de manera que los dos lados de la masa se encuentren y repetir con todas las salchichas. Poner en la nevera como por 20 mins para que se mantenga la forma.

4. Cuando la masa este dura, sacarlos de la nevera y con un cuchillo hacer rayitas o puntitos con un tenedor a manera de decoracion. Con una brocha, se le pasa lo que quedo del huevo batido por encima y se hornean por 25-30 mins o hasta que la masa se torne dorada y se vea crocante.Sacar del horno y dejar enfriar un poco antes de servir.

A sausage roll is a type of convenience food commonly served at parties and available at bakeries as a take-away food item. It is typically british and I decided to make my own veggie version using Lorraine Pascale's recipe.

Totally lazy mini sausage rolls

Ingredients500g/1lb 2oz ready-made puff pastry
plain flour, for dusting
1 free-range egg, beaten
8 sausages (i used the veggie ones), cut in two
salt and freshly ground black pepper
small handful fresh thyme leaves
Preparation method
1.
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.

Roll the pastry out on a floured surface to a rectangle of about 48x32cm/19x12½in and bash the pastry with the rolling pin a bit. Puff pastry is made of fine layers and normally you have to be very delicate with it. For sausage rolls the pastry needs to be slightly puffed, but not too much, so bashing it with a rolling pin reduces the amount it puffs up.

Cut the large rectangle in half lengthways, then cut both smaller rectangles into eight equal sections. You now have 16 rectangles in total. Brush one end of each rectangle with a little of the beaten egg, lay a piece of sausage at the other end, then season the sausage with salt and freshly ground black pepper and sprinkle with thyme leaves. Roll the sausage up in the pastry to enclose and repeat with all the sausages. Put the sausage rolls in the fridge for 20 minutes for the pastry to harden.

Once the pastry is hard, remove the sausage rolls from the fridge and score the tops with a sharp knife for decoration, or prick with a fork. Brush well all over with the rest of the beaten egg and bake in the oven for 25--30 minutes, or until the pastry has turned golden-brown and looks crisp. Remove from the oven and leave to cool slightly before serving.

En cuanto a la Rocket Salad, es super facil. 100 grs de Rugula/arugula, un punado de celery, un punado de tomates secos, aceite de oliva y albahaca para darte un saborcito mediterraneo, sal, pimienta y voila.

For the Rocket Salad (it's very easy to make) As simple as: 100 grs of Rocket leaves, a handful of celery, a handful of sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil and sprinkle with basil, -for a mediterranian flavor-, salt, pepper and voila.

Antes de venirme a Londres, tome algunas clases de cocina en Venezuela, que eventualmente me llevo a conseguir un diploma en cocina internacional. No me lo tomo muy en serio porque la escuela no es muy buena y no creo que sepa mucho y siento que me falta muchiiiiisimo por aprender pero sigo intentando y experimentando.

Before coming to London I took some cooking lessons in Venezuela which eventually led me to obtaining a diploma in International Cuisine. I dont think it's a big deal because the school wasn't that good and I still believe there are looooots of things to learn, but at least I'm constantly experimenting.

Inspirada por un día de pelo rebelde, decidí usar mis rulos naturales y hacerme un peinado que se parece al famoso poodle de Lucille Ball o a uno de los estilos que Betty Grable inmortalizo.

Soy bastante novata en lo que a peluquería se refiere, pero decidí intentarlo. Para ser mi primera vez quedo bien y una comanera del curso de hecho me dijo que entre el peinado y las perlas me veia glamorousa jeje.

Inspired by a bad hair day, I decided to sport my natural curls and get a hairdo that ended up being a lot like Lucille Ball's poodle-do or to one of the hair styles that the great Betty Grabe inmortalized.

I'm very rookie when it comes to doing my own vintage hairdos, bt I decided to give it a shot and actually, considering the fact that it was my first time it wasn't that bad. In fact, one of my classmates complemented me by saying that I looked very glamorous with the hairdo and the pearls....hehe

Lorraine Pascale crecio en Oxfordshire y cuando tenia 16 anos fue reclutada por un scout de modelos mientras compraba en Covent Garden, Londres. En ese tiempo, ella trabajo con los mas grandes nombres de la industria incluyendo a Chanel, Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Versace, Benetton y Donna Karan. Ademas, fue la primera modelo britanica negra en aparecer en la portada de la Elle Americana. A pesar de que Lorraine disfrutaba ser modelo, ella renuncio a su carrera porque queria encontrar algo a lo que se sientiese completamente apasionada.

No fue hasta despues de inscribirse en un curso de cocina de un ano en Leith's, cuando finalmente Lorraine encontro lo que queria hacer. Al terminar el curso en Comida y Vino, Lorraine hizo un curso de dos anos en Artes Culinarias Internacionales en Pastry y depsues trabajo en algunas de las mejores cocinas del mundo. Pero trabajar 18 horas al dia para alguien mas no fue facil para ella, lo que la llevo a empezar su propio negocio de tortas de celebraciones. Su primer show de television se llama "Baking Made Easy" de la BBCTwo y su primer libro ya esta en las listas de los libros mas vendidos. Yo vi su show accidentalmente como a eso de las 2am haciendo zapping y de inmediato me enamore. Lorraine tiene carisma, hace que todo se vea facil y te hace querer hacer las cosas en casa e intentarlo. Recientemente me he encontrado a mi misma buscando sus recetas sin parar, e inspirada por Julia and Julie, empezare a usar sus recetas y a comentar cuan faciles o dificiles son en realidad.

Lorraine Pascale grew up in Oxfordshire and when she was 16, she was spotted by a model scout while shopping in Covent Garden. She worked with the biggest names of the day including Chanel, Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Versace, Benetton and Donna Karan. She was also the first British black model on the cover of American Elle. Although Lorraine had a fabulous time modelling, she gave it up as she wanted to find something she was really passionate about.

On completing the Leith’s Diploma of Food and Wine, Lorraine did a two year foundation degree in International Culinary Arts in Pastry and then worked in some of the most renowned kitchens of the world. Her first television cookery series ‘Baking Made Easy’ being launched in the New Year as a prime time TV show on BBC Two and her book is already in the best-selling book lists. I accidentally started watiching her show and inmediately fell in love with her. she makes everything look easy and encourages you to try it at home. He recibido msjs de gente diciendome que porque no escribo en ingles, que hace el blog mas accesible y yo no se que.Originalmente pense apegarme a mi idioma porque me parece mas atutentico, pero la realidad es que 85% del contenido de internet esta ingles, asi que es un mal necesario. BROWNIES - FACIL -

Ingredientes

165g/5½oz mantequilla, no margarina
200g/7oz chocolate oscuro en pedacitos
3 huevos
2 yemas de huevo
2 cdas de extracto de vainilla
165g/5½ oz azucar morena (la blanca tambien funciona pero la morena le da textura a la mezcla)
2 cdas de harina de trigo
1 cda. de cacao en polvo
pizca de sal
Preparación
1. Precalentar el horno a 180C. Engrasar el molde y ponerle un poquito de harina.
2. Derretir la mantequilla en una olla a fuego mediano ycuando se haya derretido, remover del fuego y agregar el chocolate rallado o en pedacitos. Apartar y esperar hasta que el chocolate se derrita y mezclar.
3. Batir los huevos y las yemas con la vainilla (a mano funciona bien) hasta que se ponga medio espumoso/ agregar el azucar en dos porciones y pegado al borde del recipiente para que no se pierdan las burbujar de aire y de la misma manera agregar el chocolate y volver a batir.
4. Agregar la harina, el cacao, la sal y unir de forma envolvente. Poner en el horno por 20-25 miuntos. Recuerda que los brownies no son completamente secos, asi que cuando se mete el cuchillo para probar si estan listos, el cuchillo debe tener un poco de masa.
  Listo! dejar enfriar.
5. Desmoldar y cortas en cubos.
  
  Yo no tenia ,moldes, asi que lo hice redondo y con la mezcla que me sobro hice cupcakes. pero es solo accidental

Pues, Belgie es un pais pequenito pero lleno de gente linda, comida rica, el mejor chocolate del mundo, tienen ginebra de sabores que saben a guarapita de Choroni, dejan fumar en todos lados y los cigarros son baratos, los hombres estan buenos y es mas barato que Londres, por estas razones y mas fui y volvi!

Ademas, mi amiga Tine esta alla. Me trato de maravilla y rumbeamos hasta el amenecer (muy diferente a Londres donde salir implica volver a casa a las 2am).
